The North River Shores Neighborhood


Although much of the area north of the Roosevelt Bridge, west of US-1, and south of Britt Road is loosely referred to as "North River Shores." The fact is, North River Shores and its companion neighborhoods of Cocoanut Park and North River Forest are specifically platted subdivisions as recorded in the Martin County public records. This is an important distinction since only those properties within the boundaries of these subdivisions have deeded rights to use the community parks including the private boat ramp at Nosaw Park.

 

Types of Properties:

Home styles in North River Shores include waterfront and non-waterfront single family homes, duplexes, rental apartments and condominiums - on and off the water. All single family lots are a minimum of 100 feet wide and most are more than 150 feet deep.

Location:

North River Shores is situated on the banks of the North Fork of the St. Lucie River close to the City Stuart - just a mile away from the downtown shopping center. The community is conveniently close to major retailers and shopping including, Best Buy, Target, West Marine, Home Depot, Lowes, and Treasure Coast Mall. The community is also close to several churches, the Blake Library, the Lyric Theater, and Martin Memorial Hospital. Nearby communities include Jensen Beach, RIO, Seawals Point, and Hutchinson Island.

Reasonable county property taxes. No city taxes. You are entitled to a homestead exemption if you make North River Shores your principal residence. No state income tax.

Community Events:

The Social Committee conducts various civic and social functions, including an annual neighborhood picnic, snow storm, and other functions. Information on the Social Committee may be obtained by calling 772-692-3939.
Surrounding area events include the Pineapple Festival, Dancing in the Streets, Jammin Jensen, Art Shows, Green Market, Martin County Fair, Sea Food Festival, Fishing Clubs, Garden Clubs, Stuart Corvette Club, Car Shows, and many more. The Cocoanut Point Yacht Club conducts many social events and cruises to nearby and distant destinations. Memberships are by invitation. Ask a yachting neighbor for information.

Schools:

The public schools serving North River Shores are Felix A. Williams Elementary, Stuart Middle, and Jensen Beach High School. These are all highly rated excellent schools. School buses serve the entire area. Check with the Martin County School District Administration for schedules to all public schools.

Recreation Opportunities:

Pine Lakes Golf Club on Pine Lake Drive is conveniently located just north of the North River Shores boundary. This is a public course with memberships available. Further north on Britt Road is the North River Shores Tennis Club with memberships available. Halpatioke Regional Park and public beaches are just a few miles away.

Water and Sewer:

Martin County Utilities provides potable water to all properties. Wastewater service, all homes are connected to the Martin County Utilities municipal vacuum sewer system.

Laws Effecting Residents:

Martin County ordinances require permits for the construction of home additions, docks, seawalls, pools, etc. Dogs must be restrained on a leash. Speed limits are strictly enforced by Martin County Sheriff Office. Boat wake laws are also strictly enforced. State Laws govern pruning of Mangroves.

Garbage Collection:

Household trash pickup is every Tuesday and Friday morning. Trash should be placed in standard containers or plastic bags at curbside the night before. Recycling is picked up every Tuesday morning. Fees are collected by the county. Yard waste is picked up on Friday.
