The Scoop July 2025
Q2 Scoop
Hello Neighbors! The first half of 2025 has been busy here in NRS. The annual easter egg hunt was a blast and we had a huge turnout. The fishing tournament took place in early June and enjoyed by all that participated. The new dock projects have finally broken ground! We are beyond excited to provide new areas for our residents to enjoy our waterfront community parks.
2025 Annual Fishing Tournament
The annual fishing tournament was held on Saturday, June 7th. This year we had 10 boats participate in the tournament. The fishing was good that day, but mostly smaller dolphin were around. The weigh-in was held at Lakeside Park, where all neighbors were welcome to see the catch and enjoy food and ice cream trucks.

New Dock at the Boat Ramp
New Dock Installed at the Neighborhood Boat Ramp! We’re excited to announce we have broken ground on a brand-new dock at the community boat ramp! After months of planning and coordination, the new structure is now in place and ready for use. The updated dock provides a safer, more convenient spot for launching and loading boats, as well as improved access for kayaks, paddleboards, and other watercraft. Whether you’re heading out for a day of fishing or just enjoying a cruise on the water, this addition will make getting on and off the water much smoother. The project was made possible thanks to support from the POA and valuable input from residents who use the ramp regularly. Built with durable, weather-resistant materials and featuring reinforced cleats and non-slip decking, the new dock is designed to serve the community for years to come. We encourage all boaters to take a look, enjoy the upgrade, and help keep the area clean and safe for everyone. The dock has already become a favorite spot—not just for boaters, but for some of our youngest residents as well. Just after finishing, two neighborhood kids were spotted with rods in hand, casting lines off the end of the dock and reeling in small fish with big smiles. It’s moments like these that remind us how valuable shared spaces like this can be—not only for convenience, but for creating memories and connecting neighbors of all ages.
Fishing Report
It’s been an action-packed few months offshore with excellent pelagic activity across the board. Anglers fishing in 150 to 500 feet of water have been rewarded with a solid mixed bag of offshore species and some unforgettable action. Sailfish made a strong showing, with multiple boats reporting double-digit releases on live bait, especially along color changes and scattered weedlines. The bite has been best during early morning and late afternoon hours, with most fish taking goggle-eyes and threadfin herring fished from the kite. Dolphin (mahi-mahi) are still thick offshore—lots of schoolies with some quality gaffers mixed in. Weedlines in 600–800 feet have been productive, and trolling small lures and ballyhoo has been the ticket. Look for birds working and debris for the best shot at a quick limit. Wahoo were a pleasant surprise this past week with a few solid fish in the 30–40 lb range taken on high-speed trolling setups around first light. Fish were caught both on the edge and out deeper near temperature breaks. Blackfin and skipjack tuna have been stacked up, especially around the humps and deepwater structure. Vertical jigs and trolling small feathers and cedar plugs are producing steady action, with some blackfins pushing the 20–25 lb range. Overall, it’s been calm seas, clear water, and all the right conditions lining up. The bite is hot, and now’s the time to get out there while this mixed-bag madness continues. Tight lines!
